| About Us |
Camp AweSum, a not-for-profit charitable organization, is the result of dedicated hours of planning on behalf of a committed Board. Dr. Glenis Benson, an autism specialist joined the Board at its inception. Other Board members include businessmen/women, parents of children with autism, special education teachers and paraprofessionals, a camp director, and a speech language pathologist. The 2008 residential camp will provide an RN 24 hours a day, and occupational therapy. We will maintain a camper-to counselor ratio of 4-1. Among the staff will be licensed teachers and paraprofessionals with experience in Autism, graduate and undergraduate students, and parents of children on the autism spectrum. Additionally, all staff will pass a background and reference check and will receive training designed specifically for Camp AweSum. |
